Celeste Staley and David Jeffries - the owners

Celeste was born and raised for the most part of her childhood in southern West Virginia and David is a native of the United Kingdom. Since 2010, they have enjoyed being guests of Lisa and Hans in their beautiful mountain home in the hills of West Virginia at 'The Retreat at Pipestem'.

Over the past ten years, we have stayed at the cabins at least once a year for family gatherings or just to enjoy a cozy quiet mountain escape. During these visits, we noticed how the property was continuously improved, such as adding and enlarging decks, bedrooms, and building a beautiful river rock retaining wall.

We loved staying there so much that we discussed purchasing the cabins if they were ever listed for sale. In 2019, our dream of owning the cabins was made possible as we discovered that the properties were for sale. We are extremely thrilled to own 'The Retreat at Pipestem' and look forward to providing the same level of service and cozy accommodation that guests have grown accustomed to and we hope will continue to enjoy.

To make sure that we meet and exceed our guest's expectations and that they have a great experience, we often stay in our own cabins and see what needs repairing or what we possibly need to add. We have taken great care to ensure that the property is exactly how we describe in this website and we trust that our guests will be pleasantly surprised when they walk in the door.

Additionally, to help ensure that guests have the best possible experience, there is a warm, friendly and outgoing support team on board, who live in the area. Tammy Powell, who lives very close to 'The Retreat' is our Guest Relation Manager and is available to answer your questions at any time before, during or after your stay.

Susie Morsi is the Property Manager and is also available to provide support if needed during your stay and Pam Griffith acts as a General Assistant.

To keep the existing grounds as much as possible in pristine condition and to avoid the feeling of mass tourism, it was decided not to add any more cabins to the three properties so that all properties will remain cozy, comfortable places.

The Retreat at Pipestem with 10 acres is nestled in the woods just behind the State Park.
