Before we decided to invite guests to our cabins, we checked around quite a bit and rented several ourselves. We then used the experience gathered to furnish and equip them. The key amenities adding up to a comfortable and satisfying stay, we found out are a well equipped kitchen, even when not cooking every day, enough bathrooms and good sleeping comfort. In almost all cases, we experienced one or more of these ingredients were missing.
The kitchens of the log cabins at the Retreat are spacious and well equipped. Each cabin has 2 ½ bathrooms, and the mattresses we selected are exactly the same as those used by one of the world’s most premium cruise lines.

The West Virginian (6-8 persons)

3 bedrooms, 21/2 bath, claw foot tub, excellent mattresses, spacious kitchen, lots of privacy, one sleeper sofa.

This spacious 3-story log cabin, features all the conveniences one could wish for. The total square footage of 1800 can comfortably house 8 people. Upon entering at the middle level from a wrap around porch, one finds a welcoming small vestibule with cozy rocker glider, a perfect spot for tea and conversation. Further down is a powder room and a large kitchen with a dining table for eight. Sliding doors lead to a covered porch where one can sit and enjoy the forest life or watch a brilliant sunset. Upstairs are two bedrooms. The large master suite has a queen bed while the smaller room has twins. The huge full bath on this floor has great shower, separate claw foot tub and double sinks and toilet. Downstairs at the lower level, you will find a spacious living room with corner nook for games. It is comfortably furnished with queen sleeper sofa, plus three easy chairs, and TV with DVD player. At this level is a spacious bedroom with two twin beds and a full bath with toilet, sink and shower. Sliding glass doors leading to the outside grounds with a camp style grill. Because of the three levels of this cabin, it offers lots of privacy.
